Ming Chuan Hospitality Management Wins 3rd Place Nationally in the 2025 Service Innovation, Transformation, and Application Planning Competition

Students from the Department of Hospitality Management at Ming Chuan University (MCU) participated in the “2025 Service Innovation, Transformation, and Application Competition.” The event, guided by the Applied Science Education Division of the National Science and Technology Council’s (NSTC) Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, held its final round on December 19 at the Ying-Yuan Hall of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), Yanchao Campus.

Under the guidance of Professor Chou Sheng-Fang, two micro-entrepreneurship teams integrated Generative AI technology into traditional hospitality models. Their exceptional proposals stood out among a highly competitive field, earning Third Place and an Award of Excellence, respectively. These achievements showcase MCU students’ outstanding capabilities in Generative AI application and hospitality innovation practice.

Award-Winning Projects

  • Third Place: “37°C Furry Child Bakery” by Chang Yi-Ming This proposal is more than just a pet-friendly restaurant; it represents a complete revolution in service processes. By precisely balancing the “emotional economy” with “technological efficiency,” the project utilizes AI to optimize operational models. This ensures that the “37°C warmth” is accurately delivered to every pet and owner through technology. The judges highly commended the project for its superior logic in service transformation.

  • Award of Excellence: “StarAIcks: Starbucks Unmanned Store” by Huang Jing-Xi Recognizing that unmanned services are becoming a future trend in retail and dining, the student utilized boundless creativity to construct the “StarAIcks” unmanned store concept. The project explored how to maintain brand value and service quality in an automated environment, demonstrating a forward-looking vision for emerging technology applications.

Cultivating Future Innovators

The competition brought together elite teams from universities across the nation, focusing on key issues such as AI, smart services, sustainability, and service innovation. These results fully demonstrate the effectiveness of MCU Hospitality Management’s curriculum in Generative AI applications and hospitality innovation. The department not only trains professionals with technical skills but also nurtures innovators capable of insightfully leading the future development of the hospitality industry.
