The “2025 Top 5 Most Preferred Universities for the Food and Beverage (F&B) Industry” rankings have been released. The selected institutions have become top choices for employers due to their robust industry-academic collaborations and strategic geographic advantages.
High Concentration in Consumer Services
According to statistics from the “Alumni Center” of the job-seeking platform Interview Show, more than one-third of graduates from these five schools enter the consumer service industry—a rate significantly higher than that of other sectors.
Regional employment trends are also highly concentrated. Over 80% of graduates from the four northern institutions—Ming Chuan University (MCU), Fu Jen Catholic University (FJU), Chinese Culture University (PCCU), and Chihlee University of Technology—find employment in the Greater Taipei area, aligning perfectly with the high demand for F&B labor in northern Taiwan. In contrast, 70% of graduates from National Taichung University of Science and Technology (NTCUST) choose to remain in Taichung for their careers.
Institutional Strengths and Industry Integration
Experts from Interview Show provided a breakdown of why these specific schools stand out to recruiters:
-
Ming Chuan University (Ranked #1): MCU secured the top spot thanks to its Department of Hospitality Management’s emphasis on international experience and hands-on practical training, allowing graduates to transition seamlessly into the workforce.
-
Fu Jen Catholic University: FJU focuses on internationalization and five-star hotel internships, offering students prestigious opportunities to collaborate with elite brands such as Humble House Taipei and Mandarin Oriental.
-
National Taichung University of Science and Technology: NTCUST excels through its “Industry-Academic Co-op Programs,” which provide a direct pipeline for students to enter major F&B groups immediately upon graduation.
-
Chinese Culture University & Chihlee University of Technology: Both institutions have demonstrated innovation in specialized fields like mixology (spirits) and digital management, earning significant support through cooperative education programs with well-known brands.
Addressing the Labor Shortage with “Immediate Assets”
Data from the Ministry of Labor indicates that the F&B industry faces higher turnover rates compared to other sectors, making labor shortages a persistent challenge. Despite this, the industry’s revenue continues to reach record highs, leading enterprises to aggressively raise wages to attract talent.
Experts noted that the combination of industry-academic partnerships, internship opportunities, and geographic advantages makes graduates from these five universities the “first choice” for companies seeking employees with immediate combat effectiveness (ready-to-work skills). This trend reflects the urgent demand within the F&B sector for professionals who possess practical, real-world experience.
